The IBM System x3650 remains the most popular rackmount IBM server.  Available with one or two Dual-Core or Quad-Core processors ranging from 1.6GHz to 3.16GHz and a cache size of 4MB, 8MB, or 12MB this server is a robust solution dynamic enough to be applied to almost any situation.  Its low profile 2U design provides lots of power with 4 PCI slots for I/O, dual integrated Ethernet ports, and the option for redundant power supplies to reduce risk of downtime. 

The IBM x3650 comes with a standard with 1 or 2GB of memory but is expandable up to 48GB across 12 DIMM slots using 2 DIMM kits.  Depending on the model, the x3650 server can support a max of 6 3.5” Large Form Factor SAS or SATA drives or 8 2.5” Small Form Factor SAS or SATA drives.  This cost effective classic can be built up or built down to meet even the most specific requirements.
