For instance, the x3650 M3 has 18 DIMM slots and can scale to hold up to 288GB RDIMM’s of DDR3 memory – which is an incredible amount of memory. The IBM x3650 M3 server is also capable of holding up to sixteen 2.5" hot-swappable Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)/ Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk drives (HDDs) or optional 50 GB Solid State Drives (SSDs). The 2U IBM x3650 M3 system also offers 4 PCI-Express slots, which in turn provides expandability as well as the opportunity to increase I/O bandwidth for improved performance and productivity. Customers have a choice of a PCI-X riser card to support their PCI-X adapters, instead of the standard PCI-X riser card, as well as a choice of RAID level support including -0, -1, -10, -5 and more.
