The HP ProLiant DL585 G6 server is an ideal candidate for server  virtualization.  Leaving no room for the competition, it is powered by  the latest AMD Six-Core 8400 Series Processors in a 4P multi-core  rack-mountable fashion.  There is up to 6MB of shared L3 cache and  2.8GHz clock speed.  Memory on the HP DL585 G6 server is configured with  32 slots of PC2-6400 registered DIMMs of up to 800MHz, making total  memory capacity of up to 256 GB.

Based on customer needs, the HP DL585 can be purchased in a base model  or performance model configuration.  Both have little differences;  however the controller on the base model is an HP Smart Array P410/256  MB, which runs Raid 0/1/1+0/5/5+0.  The controller found on the  performance model is an HP Smart Array P410/512 MB BBWC, which allows  for running RAID 0/1/1+0/5/5+0.  The internal drive capacity on the HP  DL585 server is nothing less than large.  It can house up to 4TB of  storage, using 8 x 500GB SAS or SATA drives.  Embedded on the server are  two NC371i Multifunction Gigabit Network Adapters with TCP/IP Offload  Engine.
